Ryan's advice is right on the money. And before you contact any Web developers to find out if they can help you, be sure to at least outline the capabilities that you want for the Web site. There's an enormous range of skills, with some people who barely know HTML and CSS claiming to be Web developers, and comparing themselves with professional programmers who build substantial Web sites with e-commerce capabilities, etc.
