Default GoLive 8 Anyone?

Although I have programmed in many different programming languages, web page design and markup is brand new to me. I just signed up for 1&1 hosting service and the account comes with GoLive CS2 (version 8).

I ordered "'Build Your Own Website The Right Way Using HTML & CSS" from Amazon but it has not yet been delivered. I downloaded a PDF of Chapters 1-3 from SitePoint.com and have worked through those chapters using Textpad (This is one AWESOME little editor that has features many of the other editors do no have).

I've read in these forums that newbies will learn more if they avoid using the more advanced tools like Dreamweaver until they have developed their markup skills. Do you agree?

Secondly, do you have experience with GoLive? What does it do well? Does it compare well with Dreamweaver?

Thanks for your comments!
