Default Adobe updater... sigh

I'm posting this here as it's diretly related to the recent upgrade to Photoshop CS3. It seems th damn thing came with the cursed adobe updater, and a quick search of google will find 15,000 search results most of which the top ten complain about this CPU hog.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I needed to get this off my chest.

I haven't upgraded from CS2 yet, so I can't say. This sounds like good motivation not to upgrade yet though!
