I'm excited for the new version coming out, but as always, I hate upgrading.

Lol same here but DT will be featuring the new version once it is released. We are in need of an upgrade.

There are some good looking features in there: Spam Management looks excellent, threat prefixes are definitely a good addition - I'd choose to have a simple button so the OP could change "Question" to "Question - Answered" easily. Thread tagging another one which could be useful, if people used it properly - I'm not a big fan of the whole tagging epidemic though!
The other changes seem to be towards making vB more like a social network, not sure if this is a good or bad thing. It will probably make a forum more of a community, but will it mean people use forums more as social networks than as forums? Personally I think it's a bit of an unnecessary addition, brought on as a "shock" reaction to the current popularity of Facebook/MySpace etc.
All in all though, if you plan to upgrade here at DT then I can't wait 'til it's released!

I've noticed a lot of people complaining about the new "social network" features of the new VBulletin software. I don't get what they're complaining about though. If they don't want the social networking bits, just take them out!

Some of them do look genuinely useful though, in particular the ability to add comments and customise the look of users profile pages. This wont be of use to many forums, but for some it will be quite useful.

Off on a tangent: I'm intending to install a Mod for SMF shortly to allow profile commenting on a forum I run - the forum is for a small ice hockey club, so I intend to have links from team lists to each players profile which they will be able to edit, ala Bebo, FaceBook etc. Albeit I won't be allowing them to change the general look of it as I don't want them to make too much of an abomination of their profiles. particularly since I'm intending for them to be seamless with the rest of the site.
