Default BIG forums

So you thought you had a big forum eh?

Well I bet you can't beat Gaia online. It is the largest web forum in the history of the internet.

So how big is your forum? Mine is currently hovering around 115 members and isn't likely to get much bigger (limited user pool).

Random factoid: Gaia Online is powered by the much maligned and and spam riddled phpBB2. Presumably the Gaia programmers have done some SERIOUS redesigning of the software to improve security and to allow to scale over multiple servers.

Yep they certainly have! I know some people on other forums who have spoken with the Gaia owners, and apparently it would be a struggle to even recognise the script as being from phpBB2 in lots of places! I seem to recall that they've rewritten more or less every database query, as the originals are so poor performing over that size of site!

Wow, that is very impressive at the time of this post they had 10.617 million registered users. I cant imagine a system that could handle that amount of users. I wonder what would happen if 1/3 of those users decided to login and user the forum one day :-)
