Default Adobe Illustrator Does Not Print Correctly.

So, I am trying to make a brochure (the triple-fold kind), but I can't get my printer and Illustrator to communicate. The three sections are not lining up correctly plus, and the white space on the bottom of the bag it twice as big as the space up top. I've tried a bunch of printer settings, but none worked.

I started with a template, so I figured it would come out fine- but none of this makes any sense.

Use Adobe InDesign and save yourself a head-ache.

What size is your brochure?

Also, check your page tiling in illustrator--(under link of the hand tool)--Make sure it's lined up correctly with your paper.

Is it possible you have the wrong driver installed or something simple like that? Does it look okay in the print preview view?

Printing complicated designs seems to be a nightmarish task at the best of times. I have some experience designing and printing posters and they never seem to come out quite how you had them on screen.

I find that keeping things as simple as possible seems to help. I don't mean simple design, but using the simplest features/file formats to get the job done.

Perhaps you could try converting to a different file format and printing from there? I have had some luck with this approach myself. For whatever reason, the printer just doesn't like the file format and how it is presented to the printer. The best format to print from is generally PDF, so perhaps try to converting to that and go from there.

I'm not sure what set up you may use, but a good professional printer will take all that pain away. All you have to do is submit the file.

What scale are talking about here? I don't have any problems printing up to A3, and usually A2 is fine. But when I try to get A0's or bigger, that's when the headaches start kicking in. The printery I use does some fairly huge volumes and work with many professional companies so I'm assuming they're not totally useless. But even if they are, I don't have much choice as my printing costs are paid by my work and they only deal with local companies
