Overlap divs when extended

Hi,

I have a container div above the footer div. When the container div expands, currently it pushes down the footer div. I want to have the container div to overlay or overlap on the footer div when it expands and not push down the footer. Can anyone suggest how to achieve this?

you need to adjust you layer property to make them overlap and set them to position absolute
