Hi all,
My name is Carl Gundel, and I'm a relative newcomer to web development.
So what I do for a living is programming languages. I've been selling my Liberty BASIC software on the Internet for a long time, and it's been going pretty well. For a long time it's been a Win32 programming tool, and recently we released a version of it specially for the web called Run BASIC which is a special webserver that you can script in an easy BASIC dialect.
Even though I have produced a web programming system, I'm really not a hard core web programmer. Our software is built on an open source framework called Seaside (
http://www.seaside.st) which does a lot of the webbish heavy lifting. Seaside enabled us to build a web system in a very non-web way and in fact it really inspired us to create Run BASIC as a sort of strange step-sibling. I highly recommend it.
