Blog advertising

I've been getting a little more traffic to a site that I own recently, and I'm wondering if some advertising is in order to help recover my hosting costs. It is a regular blog with a sidebar on the right hand side.


What do you all think is the best place to position ads on a site like this? Should I have a subtle advertisement below my sidebar menu, or go for a giant hideous banner ad?

The site is mainly frequented by web savvy people who I'm concerned will be offput by excessively overt advertising.

I think a banner on the middle of your title and rating system would be a good CTR spot.
