Default CMS for static sites

I have found it infuriating in the past, not being able to find a decent CMS which does nothing more than provide a very simple admin panel to control a site with a few static pages.

In the past I have either built a crude CMS myself, or I've hacked up the WordPress admin panel to remove all of the extraneous junk, including anything about posts, trackbacks, comments, pingbacks and a whole swathe of other stuff which will simply confuse the people editing the site.

With the advent of the new admin panel for WordPress Version 2.5, my old hacked up admin panel was no good as it wasn't compatible with the new version, so I've released a new improved version as a plugin ...

If you have any questions about the plugin, or would like to request extra features, report bugs etc., then please leave a post below and I am happy to help

I'm in the process of making a WP based site for my dad - this could be perfect for the job so I'll be trying it over the next few days.

Remember it only works with WordPress Version 2.5, so if you are going to try over the next few days you will need to download the WordPress 2.5 Beta.

I've uploaded a new version which has an options panel for modifying what is displayed in the menu.

The plugin now only effects users who AREN'T administrators. So you don't need to worry about being blocked out of many of the pages on your own admin panel as soon as you activate the plugin. With the old version, if you wanted to deactivate the plugin you needed to either delete it from your server or enter the plugins.php URL manually.

I've created a demonstration site for people to try out the plugin before installing it. You can add anything you want but please don't post anything which may be offensive to other people.
