As pointed out above, the only way to increase page rank is to get backlinks. So if you are only interested in page rank then concentrate all of your efforts on doing anything to improve the number of backlinks to your site.

Although it is important to note that page rank is only one factor in promoting your site in search engines. Of much more importance is concentrating on keywords etc. which will bring good search engine results.
