Interesting tutorial.

I installed a test Drupal site a few weeks ago. I quite liked my experience with it.

I don't have a use for it right now, but hopefully get to have another go at it
with a real site some day. It was much easier to handle than Joomla. The HTML output is much more sanitised and it seems to have a superior templating system.

Unfortunately I think it will take a lot more than a few pages of a tutorial to figure it out well enough to get a full site up and running. There are a lot of options in there and configuring the templating system will take quite some time to figure out!

It reminds me a lot of WordPress, but with a MASSIVE number of extra bits tacked on.

ryanhellyer hit the nail on the head: Joomla may look easier to work with initially, but the HTML that it produces can be a horrid tables-based mess.

Yeah, I've never understood why people like Joomla so much. I was told it was easy to set up. But as soon as I started wading through the template files I ran away as fast as possible.

It reminds me of the jumbled mess that is SMF - I'm slowly working my way through one of those at the moment weeding out all the errant pointless code.
